Providing education and services for 30+ years to children with development issues and autism, Marcy is an experienced practitioner with a wide range of knowledge and skills. She holds Advanced Certification in DIR Floortime Therapy and a Master's Degree in Special Education. DIR Floortime is especially effective in promoting emotional regulation, social interactions, affect, communication skills, cognitive skills, and sensory processing.

DIR Floortime has the strongest research of any intervention
DIR Floortime is a a well-researched and evidence-based treatment for autism and developmental delays, usually covered by insurance and Medicaid. While our office does not directly bill insurance providers, you can request an invoice for reimbursement purposes. DIR Floortime is the most widely used autism therapy in the state of California.
DIR Floortime focuses on joyful interactions and activities that create positive developmental changes, and address the child's unique needs. The DIR Floortime® model was developed by Drs. Stanley Greenspan and Serena Wieder, of the International Council of Development and Learning (ICDL). It is recognized as a leading evidence-based approach for individuals with autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing issues, and other learning or developmental challenges. The model is used globally, helping toddlers, young children, teens, and young adults reach their highest social-emotional and intellectual potential.

The DIR Floortime practitioner incorporates techniques within the child’s favorite activities to promote social skills, language, affect, and emotional regulation and development. As basic milestones are met, newer ones are incorporated to reach the next developmental stage, eventually building to increasingly complex reasoning and social interaction. Training and coaching is available to parents and other supportive adults in the child’s life.

We also offer a Floortime enrichment program in your child’s preschool classroom, using techniques to promote engagement in the program. Floortime enrichment builds social language, play skills, group skills, friendship, and positive
interactions with other children.

DIR FLOORTIME IS NOT A BEHAVIORAL APPROACH
Behavioral approaches such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) narrowly focus on specific behaviors, while DIR Floortime focuses on the whole-child, using a developmental, individualized approach, with results carrying over into other aspects of the child’s life and environment.
